Positive behaviour support for people with Austism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
Support that starts with the person: how they communicate, what their environment is like, and what a good life looks like for them.
Who this support is for.
Autistic NDIS participants whose behaviour is affecting their safety, wellbeing or relationships, and the families and support teams around them. Autism is not something to be fixed. The aim is to understand the person and make life work better for them.
What we look at.
Communication
Behaviour is often a form of communication. We look at how the person communicates and how to make it easier for them to be understood.
Environment and routines
Noise, light, change, unpredictability and demands can all play a part. We look at what can be adjusted.
Quality of life
Good support builds on strengths, interests and choice, and helps the person do more of what matters to them.
How Steppr helps.
We start with a functional behaviour assessment where needed, then develop a behaviour support plan with the person, their family and support team, and help people put it into practice.
